Even though it's the same game, K Subway's mobile app and Steam version differ in a few clear ways. Here's a rundown ahead of the August launch.
Ads and data collection
The mobile app (iOS and Android) uses Google AdMob ads and Firebase Analytics. The Steam version has no ads, and neither service is ever initialized. The developer does not collect or transmit any user information in the PC version.
How records are saved
Mobile records are stored on the device. In the PC version, records and settings are stored only on the user's PC, and only sync to Valve's servers if Steam Cloud saves are enabled.
Input and screen
Mobile uses an on-screen keyboard to type station names, while the PC version uses a physical keyboard. The larger screen also makes it easier to check the map while typing.
Purchase and refunds
The mobile app is a free install from the App Store and Google Play. Purchases, refunds, and reviews for the Steam version are handled by Valve; exact pricing and policies will be available on the Steam page at launch.
