How to check NYC subway wheelchair accessibility

This list organizes the station-level ADA wheelchair accessibility data the MTA publishes. Accessibility here is static, station-level information and does not include whether equipment is broken today.

Check equipment status separately, even at ADA-accessible stations

Even a station marked ADA-accessible may have an elevator that is temporarily out of service or under inspection. The information on this page only shows whether an accessible route is designed for this station, not whether that equipment is working normally today. Check recent availability and outage history together on the elevator and escalator availability page.

Transfer stations may combine several stops into one

The NYC subway publishes statistics for stations where multiple lines meet as a single "complex." A station shown as a complex may actually be several physical stops connected by passageways, and the accessible route can differ by stop.

Plan an alternate route in advance for stations marked not accessible

If you need to use a station marked not accessible while using a wheelchair or stroller, it is safer to route through a nearby ADA-accessible station or check alternate travel options on official MTA guidance (mta.info) in advance.
